june 10, because it's my birthday and therefore the most important day of the year. december 8 we got legally, if not officially hitched.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
landin' a man getting comfortable driving. getting some good jobs. i ate more, drank more and did WAY more drugs than ever before. it made the year barely tolerable.

9. What was your biggest failure?
same as last year: "The distinct lack of good employment and crapping out on my NaNo novel" but adding: gaining and losing a lot of friends in rapid succession, falling in and out of love and getting my heart broken with rapid succession.

the wedding, working for the guv'ment.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
anything and everything by Sufjan Stevens, and "Fuck Her Gently" by Tenacious D, lol

CSI, X-Files

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
no, only annoyed or depressed. i'm too lethargic to hate.

What was the best book you read?
"Omnivore's Dilemma," just like everyone else. I read depressingly little this year.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I'd say Sufjan but he's been tucked away in the back of my musical brain since 2003ish. Mountain Goats, Andrew Bird, Tenacious D, i dunno, lots of stuff.

quarter-century mark. went out to bars with friends, got plastered and hit-on, particularly by those who share my birthday (cough).

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
more money, less drama, better decisions, no babies. and never again hotter than 95 degrees.

33.What would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
I'm never going to win Oly's "indie than thou" vibe, so forget it. I embrace my sweaterclad clashiness, and will NOT apologise for loving Wet Seal.

34. What kept you sane?
Music, pot

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
same as last year: "It’s a long and humiliating list"

same joke I tell every year: I still miss my FLG, but my aim is improving.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
i dunno, all the people I met this year crapped out on me. IRL, anyway. I made so many sweet, interesting, caring eljay friends though. you guys are T3H 4W350M3Z0RZ.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
a husband at home is worth more than 5 potential dates.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I've never done before."
see my answers for 2005 | 2004 | 2003 | and, since this wasn't around in 2002, a hilarious post more or less capturing what I was like in college.

Did it hurt to have your tubes tied? How did it feel? IF YOU DON'T MIND SHARING.

Also, the pre-pregnant thing makes me so MAD!
Hey, I'm guessing you've got some dutch in your family since you referred to your Oma (Sorry to hear she passed away :( )...

My Mum's side is dutch so grew up with an Opa and Oma :)
If by "Dutch" you mean "Deutsch," then yes; she's German. I imagine it is the same for both languages, however.

Sorry to hear she passed away
I know this must sound horrible, but we're not! She was a miserable, cranky old bag who made our lives a living hell! We're glad she's gone!
Ah, yeah, it must be the same for both languages.

I've been blessed with relatives who are generally very pleasant :)
